What is Barefaced?

Barefaced is a beauty market research company dedicated to bringing clarity to an industry that has long lacked quantifiable data. Started in October of 2024, Barefaced was created to provide beauty professionals with the insights and resources needed to navigate the ever-changing landscape. By analysing industry shifts and emerging consumer trends, we help brands stay ahead and make data-driven decisions with confidence.

What is the Barefaced Newsletter?

Every week, we take a trending topic and write several pieces of code to source and interpret that data, publishing all the insights right here on Substack. Who is behind it?

Written by yours truly—Lily (she/her)! I’m a beauty analyst and data science student, obsessed with the business of beauty and the evolving world of data journalism. After working in beauty in Sydney for five years, I’m now based in Adelaide, completing my Bachelor of Computer Science (majoring in Data Science) while growing Barefaced.
